2017 Spring Projects

Posted on Feb 16, 2017 in Community News, Featured News, Public Works, Streets Department

It looks like spring may come early to Mooresville if this winter season continues this weather trend.  In the event this is true that will allow many projects to begin earlier than expected.  The biggest project we have for this year is our paving.  The State of Indiana awarded our town almost $1,000,000. for road resurfacing.  By doing a review of the condition of each street in town individually we have compiled a list of roads and alleys that are in the most need of resurfacing.  The streets listed below are to be milled and resurfaced this spring and summer. Cohen Allen Lehr Hancel Pkwy S. Old 67 Pin Oak Red Oak Way Scarlet Oak Sugar Maple Comer Tulip Poplar Meadow Ct. Spring Mill Dr Johnson Rd Fountain Pineview Winterberry Watercrest Karrington Buckthorn Broad Leaf Silverberry Linda Lane Marcia Drive Village Blvd Tiverton Glastonberry Tavistock Tewksberry Town Center South Roberson Blvd Blackwood Ironwood Redwood Rosewood Sugarberry Kanterberry Kingsway Conduitt Tulip Drive Glendell Ct & Alley Lockerbie & Alley E. Main N. Indiana Carter North of Morgan Terrace & Styline E. Carlisle to Maple Harlan Drive St. Clair- Part of Bishop N. Crestwood Greenwood North Morningstar North Dr Center Solomon Trinity Canaan Part of Northfield Part of Wagon Trail   E & B paving was awarded this contract however; any questions or concerns should be directed to the Public Works office. If you would like to see an example of the quality of work E & B is capable of, take a drive to Monrovia on State Road 42.  That is an E & B resurfacing project and I found it to be quite impressive. Other projects on our list will include some stormwater work in the Edgewood-Northfield area.  We will be cleaning ditches and installing drainage to control flooding issues that have plagued this area for many years.  Banning Engineering has been hired to survey this area.  They will be easily identified by their trucks and shirts and should have photo ID’s if requested. We will continue to improve many sidewalks around town and bring them up to code with the Americans with Disabilities Act.  We try to focus on the areas that are in the most need of total replacement as a higher priority. We are going in a different direction with our mosquito control program.  In efforts to comply with EPA regulations, we will concentrate on attacking the larva instead of the adult.  We are concentrating our efforts on using a larvacide instead of the traditional aerial spraying.  Keep in mind spraying is only recommended if any known mosquito transmitted virus is detected in the area.  This means we will place small tablets in areas that the larva lives and hatch with intent to destroy the breeding ground.  If there is a discovery of a virus in the area, we will make every effort to control the mosquito population. As always there will be various projects around town with temporary lane closures from time to time.  All efforts will be made to safely control traffic and keep things...

Snow Removal Notice

Posted on Dec 7, 2016 in Community News, Featured News, Public Works, Streets Department

Winter is quickly approaching and the snow will be falling soon.  The street department will be clearing the streets in a quick and efficient manner and should be finishing the entire town within 24 hours after the snow event has passed out of our area.  If you clean your walk or drive before they are finished you run the risk of the snow from the street being pushed onto your cleared area.  Please wait until the streets are cleaned from curb to curb before you clean the area closest to the road.  We cannot avoid moving the snow onto your property and the streets must be cleared for emergency vehicles to have access thru town as well as residents.  Your cooperation and patience is appreciated and remember that when you clean your drive, please place the snow in your yard and not back into the street.  As always, alleys and cul-de-sacs will be last to be...
